My Favorite Mistake

 

 

The Check Point

 

It was a Friday night, end of the week. The moon was full and shining so bright. No parents home, mom at a party and dad in Santa Barbara. I was home with my brother, sister and friend. A few hours after my mom left we felt a pain in our stomachs and then a growl. We were all very hungry. We called my mom and said "Can you bring us some food?" She said "NO, I can't leave the party I won't be able to get back in." Then I said "Fine Mother! Can ben take me?" She said "Okay Daughter!" I hung up and called Ben my boyfriend I asked him "Can you take me to get Chinese food?" He said "Of course, anything to see you Babe!" I said "Aw!!" I called the Chinese Place called the Rice Garden. I ordered the food and then I told them "I'll be there in twenty minutes." We left my house and started driving to the rice garden. We were driving down Broadway. I saw bright lights and then my heart dropped then I started panicking. I said "turn!!" Ben tried to turn but, we were in the middle lanes. It was to late to turn, then as soon as I knew it we were in the line to the check point. My heart was racing, my hands got sweaty, and I couldn't think. I told my boyfriend Ben "Let me get out because your not allowed to be driving with me in the car yet." Ben said "No! I won't leave you alone, what if someone takes you? It's dark outside." I begged him and he kept saying "No!" I could tell he was nervous and scared we were holding hands and I could feel his hands shaking. Ben told me "When we get stopped, we will tell them were on a date." I said "okay if you say so." We were stopped they asked "Licenses and registration" He looked at it and said "pull over there." We did and another officer came he asked Ben "Why are you driving with her your not supposed to." Ben said "I knew but, we are on a date." The officer said "Okay let me see your licenses and registration." Ben gave it to him and he left. We were sitting in the car with the warm heater on because it was cold outside. The officer came back and said "Okay, I will give you a ticket for not having your new registration and then you will not get your licenses taken away." The officer told us to call our parents to pick us up. I was terrified to call my mom because she would be mad. I called her hoping that she wouldn't answer but, she did and I told her the whole story. I waited for her response anxiously and then I hear her busting out laughing. I was confused and then she said "it's ok" Ben parents picked us up and we drove a few blocks away then his dad gave the car back to ben. We went to the Chinese place and when we were there they said "sorry, we threw away your food because you took long." I was furious I was about to make a scene but, then I told myself no. We went to panda express and when I got home we ate. I was dry and disgusting. From that mistake I learned to never get in the car with a person who barely got there licenses only after they have had it for six months. I also learned that there are still nice people out there in the world.

Antigone Compare and Contrast

            In Antigone, by Sophocles Antigone and Creon are both very different. Although, at times they could be alike. They both are stubborn and they both go by their own book. Antigone is a rule breaker and Creon is a rule maker.

            The primary description between Antigone and Creon can be described as different. Antigone is loyal to her family because she says “That must be your excuse, I suppose. But as for me, I will bury the brother I love.” (Scene 2, Line 66-67) She said this because she is loyal to both of her brothers. Antigone wanted a proper burial for both of them but, only one got a proper burial that was Eteocles. Polynesis is the one who doesn’t get a burial and Antigone want to bury him but, it’s against the law to bury a traitor. Creon’s is loyal to his state by saying “The state is the king.” (Page 794, Line 58-60) He will honor a loyal man but despise a traitor. There are many differences between Antigone and Creon.

            Antigone and Creon are both similar by both being proud of their own things. Antigone shows no remorse for breaking the law and going to bury her brother. She said “There is no guilt in reverence for the dead.” She knows she will get in trouble yet she still dose it. Creon is also very proud character and it’s his authority he is proud of. He says “This is my command and you can see the wisdom behind it.” (Scene 1, Line 47) He thinks that he is smart with his laws and everything else that he does. Creon also talks proud when he talks badly about the gods in the parados. Antigone and Creon are similar by making their own rules.

            Creon got what he had coming. The gods say that everyone should be buried and be at peace. Creon is corrupt for sentencing Antigone to death. She only wanted to help her brother. Polyneices deserves to be at rest even though he’s a traitor because everyone has the right to be buried even is they did something that was bad. Antigone is heroic and courageous for doing what she thought was right for her brother.

 

My Autobiography

Hello! :) My name is Diana Jimenez, and I am going to talk about my past or my life before high school. It was pretty good I didn't have to do much like when your in high school. I would always go o the mall with friends and hang out at boomers. I also remember one time over the summer of going onto my freshman year I went on a lot of  trips I went to Lake Tahoe, Nevada and visited my Aunt Bev and Uncle Gen. I was a lot of fun because we went out on there boat and went tubing like almost everyday we were there. One night when everyone was sleeping I heard a sound out side I woke up my sister, and we both got scared together but the sound went away. In the morning when we woke up we told everyone what we heard and my Aunt Bev told me that it was a bear because they have a lot of bear around there.
 It was time to leave unfortunately because school was starting and I had freshman orientation. When I went to the freshman orientation I saw the school, and it was way bigger then Tommie Kunst or short for Tk. After exploring the school and having your link crew leaders help us if we got lost on the first day of school I felt not so scared. Good thing on the first week of school I didn't get lost once.
  Now in my Junior year!! :D With a wonderful boyfriend named Ben that I meet at the end of my freshman year in P.E., and we are still together for almost Two Years!! We both help each other by pushing each other to do our homework, so that we both can graduate on stage. Over the summer I hung out with my boyfriend all the time, and also we celebrated our birthdays since they were only a week apart. Toward the end of the summer my boyfriend was going to LA he asked if I wanted to go so I did. We went with his mom and sister we had a lot of fun.
  After I graduate I would like to take a year off school and travel, but that means for my boyfriend to take two years off school; however I plain on going to college with my boyfriend Ben. When I go to college I will go to Allen Hancock College and spend two years there. While I'm there I will figure out what I want major in because I still don't know what I would like to be. After Allen I would love to go to UCSB in Santa Barbara because that's were I mostly grew up and I loved living there. When I was little I went to the summer camp there, and everyday we would go to there huge pool and swim. Ever since then I've wanted to go to UCSB.
